Important Tribal Movements in India. As the British Empire expanded and began to take control of Indian lands, tribal revolts broke out in opposition to the oppressive rule of the British Raj. These uprisings were a sign that people would not accept subjugation without resistance. Tribals were the first to demonstrate resistance against oppressive forces, showing their strength and courage.
